
Princess and the Pauper, The (1939)
Ultimately a promotional cartoon by Jam Handy for Chevrolet, the story revolves around a king who announces that his daughter will marry the wealthiest suitor. A villainous wizard, Alakazam, tries to win her hand with his magical abilities and wealth, while a poor hero, who loves the princess, struggles to compete. With the help of another magician named Nikki Nome, the hero uses clever tricks to outsmart Alakazam and prove that true love can triumph over riches. Ultimately, the tale emphasizes that an honest citizen can marry the princess if they have the right allies.
