Legacy Of Gemini
Describes the Gemini program, which was a group of flights in which American astronauts orbited the Earth to learn to live and work in space in preparation for flights to the moon. The program was launched in 1961 and lasted for 18 months between March 1965 and November 1966. The Gemini astronauts went through rigorous training to prepare for the space environment, and they trained for emergencies and learned how to react if things did not go according to plan. They also trained for landing in the ocean, desert and jungle. The Gemini program helped the United States gain knowledge and experience needed for the Apollo program which aimed to send men to the moon. Gemini was a single concept with a number of sciences and helped the United States move into a new era of space exploration.
