Home Movies (HOFF065Penn)

This home movie from the 1950s and 1960s follows a car as it drives on different roads and streets, passes through open landscapes and mountain ranges, and stops at various locations such as a motel, a bridge, a building, and a cave. Along the way, people interact with each other and admire the various gardens, lakes, and landscapes that they encounter. At one point, people march in formation in front of a thatched hut while others look at the ruins of a two-story brick building, a tall monument, and a blacksmith forging metal. Later, they find a conservatory full of colorful flowers, a large modern building, a “Colonial National Historical Park”, and a tree-covered island in a lake. Finally, they end their journey at a train station and observe a steam locomotive as it passes by.
