Faith (silent, 1930s)

This 1930s silent film dramatizes key stories from the Bible with intertitles guiding the narrative. It opens with Moses delivering the Ten Commandments amidst the Israelites’ rebellion, depicting the golden calf incident and Moses’ destruction of the tablets in anger. The narrative then shifts to creation and the story of Adam and Eve, including their temptation by the serpent and expulsion from Eden.

The film continues with Cain and Abel’s conflict, culminating in Cain’s tragic murder of his brother. Scenes of shepherds leading flocks and communities gathering around wells evoke pastoral life. It concludes with the Israelites wandering in the desert, their desperate gathering of manna, and Moses leading them with guidance and hope. This visually rich portrayal combines biblical tales with symbolic imagery to evoke timeless themes of faith, sin, and redemption.
