War Of 1812 (1960)

The War of 1812, often overlooked in American history, was sparked by grievances against Great Britain, including impressment of American sailors and British occupation of forts. Despite initial American military failures and a lack of preparation, key victories, such as Oliver Hazard Perry’s triumph on Lake Erie and Andrew Jackson’s defense of New Orleans, bolstered American morale. The war ultimately solidified the United States’ independence and its status as a sovereign nation, even though many of the underlying issues would have likely resolved without conflict.
