Shao Ping the Acrobat (1981)
The film follows Shao Ping, a 16-year-old member of the Shanghai acrobatic team, as they prepare for a television show in Japan. The team, composed of 47 performers and led by experienced teachers, practices rigorously to perfect their routines. Shao Ping shares her experiences, including her family’s pride in her accomplishments, her training, and the camaraderie among teammates. As they work towards their performance, the excitement builds, especially since it will be broadcasted across China, despite some team members lacking access to television.
