Earth: It’s Structure (1960)

The Earth, home to nearly 3 billion people, has a history that dates back about 2 million years, but the planet itself is much older. The solar system formed from cosmic gases and dust billions of years ago, leading to the creation of the sun and planets, including Earth. Initially, Earth was white hot due to radioactivity, gradually cooling to form an atmosphere and surface features through geological processes. The Earth’s interior consists of a thin crust, a semi-solid mantle, and a core made of heavy metals. The crust is composed of three types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic, each formed through various geological processes. Scientists continue to study the Earth’s structure and history to gain a deeper understanding of our planet.
