How Blood Clots (1969)

The circulatory system is essential for human cells, providing food, oxygen, and waste removal through blood pumped by the heart. Blood circulates through vessels, containing nutrients and waste, and can clot to repair damaged vessels. Blood consists of plasma (90% water) and solid components, including red and white blood cells and platelets. Red blood cells transport oxygen, while white blood cells fight infections. Platelets are crucial for clotting, forming a mesh of fibrin that traps cells to create a clot. Clots dissolve after healing, aided by plasmin. Despite understanding clotting, challenges like preventing dangerous clots and treating hemophilia remain.
