Yang – Xun the Peasant Painter (1981)

The film follows a 15-year-old girl named Nien living in central China, who is passionate about peasant painting, a tradition that began in her village in 1958. She attends summer art classes led by renowned peasant painters and aspires to improve her skills, particularly in capturing movement in her drawings. Nien enters a competition to have her artwork displayed in the village gallery, while navigating family dynamics and her father’s absence due to work commitments.
