Potheads (1968)
In montage form, this film effectively captures the hallucinatory nature of marijuana smoking; the filmmaker touches on the self-destructive nature of drug-taking. This film follows the lives of young men in an American city in the 1960s. It focuses on the slum buildings, graffiti, water towers, and American flags flying in the wind. The men in the film are shown smoking cigarettes, pot, and sharing with each other. The film also shows snow on the roof of buildings, shadows cast by hands, and a man with a rope around his neck. It culminates in a view of the city from above, with a helicopter in the sky.
