Two small boys learn to use scales, and by weighing a pound of cotton and a pound of iron bolts, they find out that materials which weigh the same do not necessarily have the same volume. They observe the use of scales for weighing meat and vegetables, and learn to estimate the weight of common objects in ounces, pounds, and fractions of pounds.
