Installment Buying (1948)
Describes the experience of a person who recently moved into a new office and is considering buying new furniture for the waiting room. The person considers buying the furniture on an installment plan, but becomes worried about the risk of repossession if they miss a payment. They then reflect on their experience with buying a watch on an installment plan and consider whether the convenience of having the furniture now is worth the extra cost. They also reflect on a recent experience with buying a new home, and how they had to consider whether they could afford the monthly payments before making a decision.
