In The Street

Set in the 1940s, this film follows a group of children as they ride bikes, play with cats, peel oranges, and dance in the streets of a city. They play with flour filled stockings, share candy, and roughhouse with each other, while adults, like the woman who smiles and speaks to the baby carriage, look on. The children take to the street corners, alleyways and stoops of the city, while the L train rolls by in the background, and the adults talk and smoke on the stoops. Through it all, the children find joy in the little things and embrace the freedom of childhood.
