Furious Flycycle (1980)

Melvin Spitzagel, an aspiring inventor, lives in a house with an apple tree and a barn used as his workshop. He has a knack for fixing mechanical devices, earning him the title of “mechanical wizard.” One day, he helps fix a broken freezer at his father’s ice cream plant, which leads to a reward of a new bicycle. Melvin admires the famous inventor Professor Mickey, who has moved to his town but remains reclusive. After a chance encounter with the professor, Melvin expresses his desire to become an inventor. Despite the professor’s warnings about the challenges of invention, Melvin remains determined. When his relatives go missing during a canoe trip, he uses his inventions to rescue them, realizing the difficulties of being a mechanical wizard.
