David The Shepherd, Part 2 (1950)
In this continuation of the story of David, we follow the young shepherd as he is anointed by the prophet Samuel to become Israel’s future king. David is called to soothe King Saul with his music during the king’s illness, which leads to a budding friendship. When the Philistine giant Goliath challenges the Israelites, David volunteers to fight him, relying on his faith in God rather than traditional armor. He defeats Goliath with a single stone from his sling, gaining the admiration of the people and the jealousy of King Saul. Despite Saul’s attempts on his life, David remains respectful and wise towards the king.
