Karius And Backtus (1955)

The film features two puppets, Karius and Backtus, representing tooth decay and bacteria that live in a person’s mouth, specifically on their teeth. They enjoy consuming sugar and candy, which allows them to grow and thrive. However, their activities lead to toothaches for Joe, the owner of the teeth. As Joe’s mother advises him to take better care of his teeth, he begins brushing them, which ultimately removes Karius and Backtus from his mouth. The story concludes with the characters being washed away but still lurking, waiting for another opportunity to cause cavities in someone else’s teeth. Joe learns the importance of regular brushing to prevent their return. Based on a Norwegian children’s book..
