Dan Doherty succeeds Colmery as Commander. The parade on Fifth Ave is the biggest ever held. Colorful bands from everywhere. 250,000 of the Legion pass in review. New York’s millions turn out to cheer the veterans. On and on– the thousands pass. On– into the nineteenth hour.
