The Donkey’s Barley Ration (1950s)
Marionettes! The film follows a donkey named Slowfoot and his owner, Nasr-ed-din Hoja, in a quaint town where they visit a coffee house to hear stories. The villagers discuss the importance of cooperation with American farmers for better food production, but Hoja presents a misguided theory that suggests cutting down on his donkey’s food can save grain. His plan initially receives praise, but ultimately leads to disaster when the donkey dies from starvation, illustrating the necessity of proper nourishment for health and prosperity.
