Liverwort: Alternation Of Generations (1974)

Close-up and time-lapse photography enables us to examine the liverwort, Marchantia, a standard example of alternation of generations. The role of water, essential to the reproduction of Byrophytes, is visualized as we see the actual transfer of sperm from antheridia to archegonia. The complete cycle from gametophyte to sporophyte and back to gametophyte is traced.
